Folgende zusammenfassenden Publikationen liegen dieser Liste zugrunde (mit Angabe der Kürzel für die Checkliste):

Benennung der Arten nach Martens (1978), mit Aktualisierungen; Familienzuordnung nach Kury (2003).

Hinweise:

Die Familienzuordnung und -benennung unterscheidet sich gegenüber Martens (1978) in zwei Punkten:

• Cladonychiidae = Erebomastridae (Cokendolpher 1985)
• Von den Phalangiidae (sensu Martens 1978) sind nun die Sclerosomatidae abgetrennt (vgl. Crawford 1992, Starega 2000, Kury 2003). Die Zusammengehörigkeit der Gattungen dieser abgetrennte Familie ist weniger fraglich als die Monophylie der in den Phalangiidae verbleibenden Gattungen. Wir haben uns aber dennoch für diese Lösung entschieden und hoffen damit die Diskussion anzuregen und zu notwendigen Revisionsarbeiten zu motivieren.

• Zahlreiche Arten der Gattung Trogulus sind dringend revisionsbedürftig (Martens in litt., Komposch, Novak, Schönhofer unpubl.).

Remarks:

The familial affiliations and names of the families differ from Martens (1978) in two cases:

• Cladonychiidae = Erebomastridae (Cokendolpher 1985)
• The Sclerosomatidae are now separated from the Phalangiidae (s. lat., see Martens 1978) (compare Crawford 1992, Starega 2000, Kury 2003). The relationship of the genera of the Sclerosomatids is much less questionable than the monophyly of the remaining Phalangiid genera. We decided to use the presented solution and hope to motivate the discussion and necessary revisions.

• Numerous species of the genus Trogulus need a revision (Martens in litt., Komposch, Novak, Schönhofer unpubl.).

Kurze Diskussion zu Abb. 1:

• bis 1899 wurden 2/3 (63 spp.) aller bekannten Weberknechtarten der hier behandelten 14 Länder beschrieben
• seit 1875 ist – mit der Ausnahme des Zeitraumes 1950-1974 (u.a. durch Jürgen Gruber und Jochen Martens) – ein stetiger Rückgang der Neubeschreibungen zu verzeichnen
• die Abbildung lässt vermuten, dass in Mitteleuropa nur noch wenige unbeschriebene Arten zu erwarten sind

Short discussion of Fig. 1:

• until 1899 two thirds (63 spp.) of known harvestman species from these 14 countries were described
• since 1875 a permanent decline in the number of descriptions is registered – with exception of the period 1950-1974 (for example by Jürgen Gruber and Jochen Martens)
• the graphic shows that there may only be a few undescribed species left in central and northern Europe
